About the Beach
Butterfly Beach is a tiny, pristine cove at the southern end of the Palolem bay, accessible only by boat (10-minute kayak from Palolem) or a challenging trek through the forest. Named for the numerous butterflies found in the surrounding dense vegetation, the beach is completely undeveloped with no shacks, shops, or facilities. The small crescent of sand is flanked by rocky headlands covered in tropical vegetation. Dolphins are frequently spotted in the waters around the headland. The beach is best visited as a day trip from Palolem — bring your own water and snacks.
