About Anshi National Park
Anshi National Park forms the core of the Anshi-Dandeli Tiger Reserve in North Karnataka, protecting some of the most pristine tropical evergreen rainforest in the Western Ghats. While Dandeli provides the more accessible safari experience, Anshi represents the wild, undisturbed heart of this landscape. The park's dense canopy makes wildlife spotting challenging but incredibly rewarding — black panthers (melanistic leopards), tigers, and elephants inhabit these forests. For birdwatchers, Anshi is paradise: Malabar trogons, Ceylon frogmouths, great hornbills, and numerous flycatchers and barbets inhabit the canopy. The park is accessed primarily through guided nature walks and birding trails — there are no standard vehicle safaris. The sheer density and intactness of the forest make Anshi an important conservation area.
