Butterfly Park (Bannerghatta)
The Butterfly Park at Bannerghatta is India's first dedicated butterfly conservatory, spread across 7.5 acres within the Bannerghatta Biological Park complex. The centrepiece is a large polycarbonate dome that creates a controlled tropical environment housing 48+ species of butterflies in various stages of their lifecycle. Visitors walk through the dome on elevated pathways, surrounded by fluttering butterflies, tropical plants, and small waterfalls. An adjacent museum explains the lifecycle of butterflies, their ecological importance, and conservation challenges. The conservatory also features a pre-release chamber where visitors can watch newly emerged butterflies dry their wings before their first flight. It's an outstanding educational experience for children and adults alike, combining entertainment with scientific learning about one of nature's most beautiful creatures.
