Bannerghatta Biological Park
Bannerghatta Biological Park (BBP) is one of India's few wildlife facilities located within a major city, encompassing a zoo, safari park, butterfly conservatory, and rescue centre across a 25,000-hectare wildlife corridor. The Lion & Tiger Safari takes visitors through natural habitats in caged buses, offering close encounters with big cats, bears, and elephants. India's first butterfly park, a 7.5-acre polycarbonate dome, houses 48+ species in a simulated tropical rainforest. The park also runs an elephant rescue and rehabilitation centre where visitors can observe rescued pachyderms. The zoo section features a well-curated collection of Indian wildlife including leopards, crocodiles, and various primate species. Located just 22 km from the city centre, BBP plays a crucial role in wildlife conservation while providing Bangaloreans an accessible safari experience without leaving the city.
