Varthur Lake
Varthur Lake is one of Bangalore's largest lakes, spanning over 400 acres in the eastern part of the city. While the lake has faced significant pollution challenges due to sewage inflow from surrounding areas, ongoing restoration efforts by BDA and citizen groups are gradually improving water quality. The bund walking path offers panoramic views across the vast water body, and despite its challenges, the lake attracts various bird species including egrets, cormorants, and painted storks. The open-sky views and expansive horizon make it a unique escape from the boxed-in feel of the surrounding tech parks. As restoration continues, Varthur Lake has the potential to become one of Bangalore's premier lakeside destinations.
