About Kolli Hills
Kolli Hills (Kolli Malai), ominously nicknamed the 'Mountain of Death' due to its treacherous ghat road, features an astonishing 70 continuous hairpin bends that make the ascent itself the primary adventure. At the summit, the Agaya Gangai waterfall plunges 300 feet and is reached by descending over 1000 steps. The hills are famous for their siddha herbal medicine tradition, with botanical gardens showcasing rare medicinal plants used by local practitioners. The Arapaleeswarar Temple at the summit is an ancient Shiva shrine. The relatively flat plateau top supports rice cultivation and pepper plantations by the local tribal community.
