About Kotagiri
Kotagiri is the oldest of the three Nilgiri hill stations (alongside Ooty and Coonoor) and remains the least developed and most peaceful. Perched at 1793 m, it was the first choice of the British before they shifted their headquarters to Ooty. The town is surrounded by vast tea estates and eucalyptus groves, with gentle walking trails through Kodanad viewpoint, Catherine Falls approach, and Elk Falls. The Toda tribal settlements in the area provide a glimpse into one of the oldest indigenous cultures of the Nilgiris. Kotagiri is ideal for those seeking solitude away from the tourist circuits.
