About the Waterfall
Iruppu Falls, also known as Lakshmana Tirtha Falls, is located in the Brahmagiri range of Coorg district. The falls drop approximately 170 feet and are considered sacred — legend says Lord Lakshmana created the stream by shooting an arrow into the hillside. The Rameshwara Temple at the base sees heavy pilgrim traffic during Shivaratri. The trek to the falls is through dense forest with well-marked trails. The falls are at their most spectacular during monsoon but remain photogenic through January.
