Sankey Tank
Sankey Tank (officially Colonel Sankey Tank) is a 37-acre artificial lake built in 1882 by Colonel Richard Hieram Sankey to serve as a water reservoir for the growing city. Located in the upscale Malleshwaram-Sadashivanagar area, the tank has evolved into one of Bangalore's most picturesque urban lakes. The well-paved peripheral pathway is popular with evening walkers and joggers, while the Sankey Boat Club offers rowing and kayaking experiences. A swimming pool adjacent to the lake adds to the recreational options. During November to January, the lake attracts various migratory bird species, and the resident population includes cormorants, kingfishers, and purple moorhens. The lake's surroundings have been beautified with landscaped gardens, park benches, and exercise stations, making it one of the most well-maintained lakes in the city.
