Hebbal Lake
Hebbal Lake is a 150-acre lake in North Bangalore that has become one of the city's premier birdwatching destinations. Managed by the Forest Department, the lake attracts over 70 species of migratory birds between October and March, including bar-headed geese, common teal, northern shovelers, and painted storks. The lake features elevated viewing decks, bird hides, and walking trails along its bund that provide excellent vantage points for birders and photographers. Despite being surrounded by rapid urbanisation including the Hebbal flyover and commercial complexes, the lake has maintained its ecological importance thanks to conservation efforts. The surrounding wetland acts as a natural water filtration system for the area. Weekend mornings see a regular community of birdwatchers and nature photographers with long lenses.
