About Makalidurga
Makalidurga offers one of the most unique trekking approaches near Bangalore — the trail begins from Ghati Subramanya station and follows active railway tracks through a rocky landscape before ascending the hill. The summit holds the ruins of an ancient fort with crumbling walls and a watchtower, providing sweeping views of the surrounding countryside and the Manchanabele reservoir. The trek is moderately difficult with some rocky scrambling sections near the top. A lake at the base adds to the scenic beauty, and the combination of railway tracks, lake, and fort ruins makes this a photographer's paradise.
