About Pushpagiri
Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary encompasses one of the highest peaks in Coorg at 1712 m, forming part of the Western Ghats biodiversity hotspot. The sanctuary is named after the Pushpagiri peak and is connected to the famous Kumara Parvatha trek — one of the most challenging treks in Karnataka. The landscape transitions from tropical evergreen forest at lower elevations to shola-grassland ecosystems at the summit, where rolling green meadows stretch to the horizon. The sanctuary is home to the Malabar giant squirrel, great hornbill, and the extremely rare Nilgiri marten. During monsoon, the grasslands transform into a carpet of wildflowers.
