About Savandurga
Savandurga is reputed to be one of the largest monolith hills in Asia, consisting of two massive rock formations — Karigudda (black hill) and Biligudda (white hill). The trek up Biligudda is the more popular route, involving a mix of trail walking and rock scrambling with some sections requiring all-fours climbing. At the summit, remnants of an ancient fort and a small temple reward trekkers with panoramic views stretching to Manchanabele Dam. The hill has historical significance as a fort that Tipu Sultan's father Hyder Ali famously defended against the British.
