About Skandagiri
Skandagiri (also called Kalavara Durga) is a ruined hill fortress near Chikballapur that has become Bangalore's most sought-after night trekking destination. The trek begins around 2 AM under starlit skies, winding through rocky terrain and scrub forest for about 2.5 hours to reach the summit. The reward is a spectacular sunrise over a sea of clouds, with the ruins of the ancient fort adding a dramatic backdrop. The trail passes through remnants of stone walls and gateways, and the summit offers 360-degree views of the surrounding Deccan plateau.
