About Nandi Hills
Nandi Hills is a flat-topped granitic hill originally fortified by the Ganga Dynasty and later reinforced by Tipu Sultan as his summer retreat. The hill is the source of three rivers — Palar, Arkavati, and Pennar — and is renowned for the 'Cloud Bed' phenomenon between November and February, when clouds settle below the summit creating a sea-of-clouds vista. Key attractions include Tipu's Drop (a sheer cliff used for executing prisoners), the ancient Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple at the base, and adventure activities like paragliding and cycling up the ghat road.
